James
A. Murphy, Partner at de Visscher & Co., has over seventeen
years of experience in corporate finance and middle-market investment
banking. For the past twelve years he has spearheaded de Visscher
& Co.’s debt and equity fundraising activities and designed
liquidity and capital solutions for medium-sized family owned and
closely held companies averaging $10MM to $150MM in sales. In the
transaction advisory area, he has been involved in sourcing and
structuring mergers, acquisitions, ESOP’s, private equity
transactions and recapitalizations for both family-owned and closely
held businesses.
Mr. Murphy is also a General Partner
of the affiliated private equity firm, Family Capital Growth Partners
L.P., which invests long-term, minority investment capital in family
businesses to foster growth or provide liquidity to shareholders.
Mr. Murphy, who has spoken at various
conferences on the financial solutions to the capital and liquidity
needs of family owned businesses, is a Certified Public Accountant
and was previously affiliated with Goldman Sachs & Co. and Ernst
& Whinney’s Privately-Owned Business Group. He holds an
MBA in Finance from New York University and a BA from Yale University.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Family Firm Institute
and Chairman of its Development Committee, he is also a Director
of Blessing White, Inc. (Princeton, NJ), Shipmates/Printmates (Albany,
NY) and Guida Dairy (New Britain, CT) and he is the Chairman of
the Yale Hockey Association. He is also a member of the Association
for Corporate Growth, the Connecticut Venture Group and TEC Associates.
